Profiteroles are delightful French pastries made from choux pastry. These crispy, light-as-air pastry balls are filled with either custard, cream, or even ice cream, and then drizzled with chocolate sauce.

Chocolate Profiteroles:
Dip the profiterole shells in melted chocolate or coat them with a chocolate glaze.
Fill with whipped cream, custard, or ice cream.

Coffee Profiteroles:
Add a coffee flavor to the choux pastry by mixing instant coffee granules into the water-butter mixture.
Fill with coffee-flavored custard or whipped cream.

Profiterole Shells

  • 100 grams unsalted butter
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 cup flour
  • 4 large eggs (55-60g each, at room temperature)
  • Pinch of salt

Howto steps

1In a saucepan, melt the butter with water over medium heat.

Remove from heat and add flour. Mix until a paste forms.

3Let it cool for 10 minutes, then add eggs one at a time, mixing well.

4Pipe or spoon small rounds onto a baking sheet.

5Bake at 220°C for about 25-30 minutes until golden and puffed.
